Install and start on Windows
- 1. Download. Open the official itch.io page and download gamma-emerald-ea-windows.zip (1.4 GB).
- 2. Extract. Unzip the archive to any folder. Windows built-in extraction is enough.
- 3. Run. Open the folder and launch the game executable.
- 4. First launch. Wait several minutes while shaders compile. The developer says this is normal.
- 5. Save. The official page says “Save often.”
Steps combine the official page (file name, shader compile, “save often”) with the standard process for opening a downloaded ZIP archive.
Common first-launch problems
- Windows Security blocks or removes the file. Some commenters report this behavior, but those anecdotes do not prove either that the file is unsafe or that the warning is a false positive. Do not bypass security controls based only on a comment. Verify the source, scan the file, and report the block through the developer’s Discord.
- Slow towns or battle hitching. Official known issues on low-end or low-RAM systems.
- No official mobile or Mac build is listed. See platforms.
